Gawain and the Green Knight

Sir Gawain, the nephew of King Arthur, accepted a challenge from the Green Knight, who dares him to deal any blow on the condition that in a year and a day, the Green Knight may deal Gawain the same blow. Gawain decapitates the Green Knight, who survives, picks up his head, and commands Gawain to seek him out in a year.
