Leshy, the old man of the forest

Leshy is an elusive forest spirit told of in Russian folklore. This wild man of the woods was once revered and feared as a powerful deity by the pre-Christian Slavs, but now lives in obscurity. He shuns humankind and is seen little, but is not known to be cruel to the few who encounter him.
