In the faraway land of Lukomorye lived the powerful sorcerer Koshchei. He was called ‘Deathless’ for he was known to have granted himself a kind of immortality by trapping his death within an egg which he hid away. Should the egg ever be found and destroyed, however, he would instantly die.
